'3. Tin Can Alley'

$14,000.00

No. 3 in the Light Coming in Through Cracks Series, 2018-2021.

Un-manipulated, naturally-oxidized (rusted), used/discarded metal Found Object—likely a crushed can, on painted salvaged cotton sailcloth with cotton and synthetic wool on plywood. 24” x 24” x 2.5”.

This tin can was found along the banks of a nearby river not far from Yellowstone National Park. I chose it for this series because, well, after being on the backseat floor of my car for probably one year, I finally gathered it up in order to make art out of it. It took me that long to decide what I was going to do with it. But I do love the crépe feeling of the metal and the mottled, animal print like texture of the rust. This piece has a nice three-dimensional quality to it. What do you think?
